Reply:I depend a lot on lip reading....yellow teeth bother me (like Mel Gibson yellow) and very crooked teeth bother me too...
But as long as there isn't food stuck in them, or mold growing down them, I'm good.

Reply:Yellow teeth can be perfectly clean and healthy. In fact they are stronger than white teeth and less likely to get cavities. I say that but I bleached my straight, yellow teeth white because of pressure from society to look better. The colour of teeth is a lot easier and cheaper to fix than crookedness. However most people's crooked teeth really aren't that bad, until you see someone where they're all twisted up. It looks like they grew up poor and neglected so if I had that problem I would get it fixed for sure.

I want pearly white teeth, any suggestions?
Im 13/14 years old and i have yellowish teeth... they arn't gold or whatever but they arnt white!
I tried crest strips but i wouldn't use it everyday because it was hard to keep in for 30 min and all this nasty saliva would be coming out.
Price is not a big issue,
Are those 5 min. strips good?
Are there any side effects?
How long will it take to have pearly whites?

First, don't drink soda, tea, coffee, or smoke cigarettes, because they all stain your teeth.
Second, be sure to brush your teeth after every meal. If you are gentle in your brushing, you really can't brush enough. That will help prevent future stains and get rid of some surface stains.
As for the deeper stains, the over-the-counter products work well if you follow the directions. I had the same problem with the original Crest WhiteStrips, but they have refined their product to be as effective in a shorter amount of time.
Baking soda is wonderful, but I wouldn't use it straight b/c you don't want to chance ingesting it.
Worst case scenario, visit your dentist. He/She can give you a professional bleaching treatment for a reasonable price, and regular brushing and avoiding staining drinks/cigs will prevent future stains.

Reply:yes i had the saliva problem too- i end up just sucking in air while i have the strips on, so i swallow the saliva, but dont touch my teeth. try putting them on then laying down so the saliva wont come on your teeth. And the lenght of time it take to have pearly whites depends on the strength of the bleaching agent and the durationn you have it on. But stronger concentrations of bleaching agents usually increase sensitivity and irritation-- so if price is not an issue, get professional whitening at your dentist, though i think you are a bit young for it. A slow and steady way is to rinse your mouth with a weak peroxide solution from a drugstore, which will gradually whiten your teeth. hope that helps,

I have never seen such white teeth! What's up? They all look like they have false teeth. What are they doing bleeching or using porcelain veneers? Is this normal in America now? What do you think of the candidates teeth? Did you notice that they are so white?

How did you accomplish it? I see people walking around with dazzling, movie star white teeth and I know it's not just from brushing and avoiding coffee and tea (although those help). They definitely used something professional - Zoom, Zoom 2, BriteSmile.

Reply:the dazzling white teeth is achieved from those crest whitestrips. one of my friends used to use them all the time and her teeth are still white after a year of stopping them. i would suggest using a whitening toothpaste since the chemicals in these whitening kits do more harm than good. a lot of complaints are of teeth hurting when drinking hot or cold beverages or eating sweets which can be an indication of your enamel on your teeth deteriorating. so its up to you, are dazzling white teeth worth the risk of losing your teeth all together? id try the toothpastes or rembrandt first. good luck!

ive had lazer whitening with Britesmile and Zoom but it only lightens the shade and lasts at best a couple of weeks. What systems do celebrities like Simon Cowell use to get that really bright snow white teeth. Any recommendations?

Dont know about the celebs - some look like veneers covering the teeth rather than withening systems- but at the dental clinic where I work, slow release bleaching is recommended over laser. The results are generally longer lasting. It may be a pain in the *** for some people as you have to wear custom made trays over your teeth at night for 2-3 weeks, but I think it is worth it.
I've done it myself and reached the top shade A1 in two weeks. It's lasted over 6 months so far. As I do drink coffee and red wine (both very staining) I use the pro-whitening brush head on my electric tooth brush once a week and I think that is helping to maintain the white appearance. I have a couple of syrnges of bleach left for doing top-ups in another few months if needs be.

But, if you stick to it you'll get used to it. It works wonders. I promise =].
