My baby has very nice white teeth, but on his white teeth he has "whiter" patches of white... anyone knows what causes this or if it'll go away??
White Spots on Babys Teeth/?
It could be due to the fluorination of your tap water. Too much fluoride can cause this. A dentist could tell you for sure.
Reply:Too much floride is one cause.
Reply:My baby also has little patches of white on his teeth- I don't really have any advice for you-- just continue to brush his teeth.
Reply:Check with your doctor. It may be a calcium problem. Also an association with thrash.
Reply:my daughter had these too, and they went away. i wouldnt worry about
Reply:Does your baby drink tap water??
If so it is most likely Flourosis, and it is NOT good.
When infants and young children are little to much flouride causes whats called Flourosis which prevents the ennamal on a childs tooth from developing correctly. this can cause major problems when older as your Ennamel is what protects your teeth and your child may likely develop frequent cavities when older, white spots on teeth are one of the first signs of Flourosis.
Flouride is naturally found in so many things including borccoli and our milk, he doees't need to be ingesting it. I would switch and use bottled water for all the water your baby drinks and talk to your babies dentist/doctor. But remember some dentsists are stuck in the old view that flouride is great and can never do any harm. If this is the case with your dentist I would get a second opinion.
