White teeth, who really has them?

So who really has natural white teeth? And for those that don't how do you whiten them a bit? I brush alot but to no avail.

White teeth, who really has them?
The best and easiest way is to see your dentist for a cleaning. They can remove the stains caused from the coffee, tea and smoking. Then the rest is up to your home care in keeping the stains off. Once you get the stains removed, it will be a lot easier to keep them off! Using a soft toothbrush and whitening toothpaste can do wonders alone.

If you want the hollywood white, then talk to the dentist about home bleaching. He/she will suggest the trays or the in house method. If your interested in the strips you should know that they do not last, they give a temporary brightness to the teeth.

The custom trays ususally takes a few minutes to a couple of hours a day for about two weeks to reach your desired results. Most patients I've found love this type of whitening. It allows them to "touch up" by bleaching whenever they feel their teeth are getting stained again. The average cost of this is around $200-400. It's the method of bleaching I've used for over 15 years now.

The one hour system that the dentist does in his office, it's quiet expensive though, somewhere around the $600-$700 area. Some dentist don't use it or recomend it due to the sensitivity it causes. It usually last for a couple of years and requires touch up with bleaching pens and mouthwashes which are expensive too. My son used this method at our office and within a few months went back to his trays saying his teeth just weren't as bright.

So, it's really up to you and how much you want to spend to get those "pearly" whites. I would check around on the prices in your area. But the key question is, are you willing to maintain it, with regular appointments with your dentist and diligent home care? Talk to your dentist, they can answer all of your questions. Good luck! Hope I've been of some help.
Reply:Nobody's born with perfectly white teeth. The only way to really whiten them is to go to your dentist who makes a mold of your teeth (about $250 in Canada), and then gives you "plates" in which you inject a whitening agent (about $50 for a year's supply). You then place these "plates" in your mouth for several hours, every day for about 2 weeks (once or twice per year) and you will then notice a dramatic change. Commercially-available whitening toothpaste will NEVER whithen your teeth to the point where you would notice a difference, same for those strips we see on TV - they do not work. Good luck!
Reply:We are all different and some will have whiter teeth than others.

I was fortunate to have inherited pretty good teeth, but my father

told me when I was in my teens that he brushed with baking soda

and his teeth were not only white but healthy.

I don't use baking soda every brushing, but try to use it frequently. It's none abrasive, cheap, natural, and so far my teeth are in good shape and white. (I'm in my 50's)

Also get your teeth cleaned by your hygienist every 6months.
